This new project, with the working title of Lampara, is part of my PhD research exploring identity formation and representational constructs in audiovisual non-fiction storytelling using Maltese fishermen as a case study.
These works are from two separate long-term documentary projects focusing on representation and identity in Malta. The three photographs showing Mimi Cauchi at home form part of the first project. Mimi was one of 35 collaborators with whom I worked to produce the photographic book, Liminal, which focused on transgender people. This project was carried out between 2011-2013 and is currently being shown at the Maltese pavillion of the Venice Biennale 2017.
